Rob works for the Knowledge Transfer Network and is part of the Innovate UK family. He specialises in connected transport; looking holistically across all modes of transport to help make intelligent mobility a reality. He spent six years with innovITS Ltd – the UK ITS Centre of Excellence for Transport Telematics.

Martine Harvey – Regional Space Innovation Manager, the Open University

Martine leads the Open University’s part in the Space Research and Innovation Network for Technology (SPRINT) Programme (https://sprintnetwork.space). SPRINT provides funded access to the expertise, facilities and IP of 5 Space active UK universities to help UK SMEs develop and accelerate to market new products and services using space data and technologies.

Martine will be able to help you identify how SPRINT can help with your business needs using Open University expertise and facilities, as well as provide guidance on how to join the network and benefit from the Programme’s funded Innovation scheme.


Ian Downey – Business Applications UK Ambassador Platform Network Coordinator (APN-C)

Ian Downey coordinates the network for the Business Applications programme of the European Space Agency (ESA). Ian has 30 years’ experience in remote sensing and other space applications in both private and public sector organisations, particularly in the areas of needs analysis and business development.


Tony Forsythe – Deputy Head of Technology Strategy, Head of Standards, UK Space Agency

Tony has responsibility for representing the UK’s interests in a number of national and international Space Standards for a. He also leads on the National Space Propulsion Test Facility for the Agency and works closely with the European Space Agency.

Tony can help you understand:

Hazel Biggs – Knowledge Transfer Manager, Defence and Security, Innovate UK

Hazel works for the Knowledge Transfer Network which is the networking partner of Innovate UK. She specialises in all areas of defence and security and also holds the forensic portfolio within the KTN. Hazel has worked for the KTN for 12-months. Prior to this, she worked for the Home Office in various departments including science and technology development for Government. She also had a long career working within the law enforcement community developing National programmes of work including forensic innovation, crime prevention and community safety.

  • Support available through the KTN for SME’s and Innovators
